Apple is reportedly moving forward with its plans to develop a production-ready self-driving car as well as new battery technology. Apple is aiming for a 2024 release of its passenger vehicle.
- Apple's Project Titan, its vehicle research division, has been around but not prioritized since 2014 when it first started to design its own vehicle.
- Apple is also hoping to design revolutionary and next-level battery technology for the vehicle that aims to radically reduce the cost of batteries as well as increase the vehicle’s range.
- Apple’s car concept reportedly may also feature multiple lidar sensors, which help self-driving cars get a three-dimensional view of the road, for scanning different distances.
- Apple has decided to tap outside partners for elements of the system, and it is currently unknown who will help manufacture all of the pieces necessary for the vehicle.
