Utah-based Epic Brewing has purchased California-based Telegraph Brewing for an undisclosed amount.  Epic spent 18 months looking for a brewery to purchase. The brewery's cofounder David Cole believes the purchase will benefit both parties and help expand Epic's presence in California. Epic will ship 7 foeders (wooden tanks for aging beer) from its Denver location to Telegraph in Santa Barbara in order to expand Telegraph's sour beer program. The California brewery will also use Epic's resources to introduce 12-ounce cans to its packaging options. Epic produced 27,000 barrels combined at its Utah and Colorado locations in 2016. – SANTA BARBARA INDEPENDENT

Craft Brew Alliance (CBA) will sell the company's Woodinville, Washington production facility for $24.5 million to a real estate holding company. The new company plans to convert the location into offices. The sale is part of CBA's overall strategy to consolidate production for distribution at larger locations owned by the company's primary shareholder—AB-InBev. CBA CEO Andy Thomas said the company had spoken with several smaller brewers about purchasing the Woodinville space but most thought the "location didn't make sense." Thomas added, "It validates a little bit of what we had known — it is not in the best location for a scaled production brewery." Craft Brew Alliance opened the Redhook Brewlab—a significantly smaller brewpub—in Seattle last August and is in the process of renovating its Portland, Oregon Widmer Brothers restaurant to deemphasize food service and increase taproom sales. – BREWBOUND

Anheuser-Busch has preordered 40 electric Tesla Semi trucks. Production for the trucks is scheduled to begin in 2019 and the electric semis are expected to cost around $150,000. Anheuser-Busch said the preorder is, "part of a company-wide strategy to employ cutting-edge technology to reduce the environmental impact and increase the efficiency of its operations." In October 2016, AB's Budweiser brand was part of the first commercial product shipment via a self-driving truck when the company sent 50,000 Budweiser cans 120 miles on the highway using a self-driving truck from Otto. – THE VERGE

Molson Coors is developing a new non-alcoholic beer brand for North America. The mega-brewer plans to release the brand in Canada next year and subsequently release it in the United States. Molson Coors' chief growth officer Kandy Anand says the increasing sales of low and no alcohol brands in Europe guided the company's decision to develop a new line. "In Europe today, it’s anywhere between 4 and 14 percent of the beer market, depending on the country. We think conditions are right for what happened the last five years in Europe to start happening in North America." – DENVER POST
