Twitter has acquired London-based communication platform Sphere for an undisclosed amount. Sphere was founded in 2016 by Tomas Halgas and second-time founder Nick D’Aloisio. It has raised about $30M to date; investors include Index Ventures. As part of the deal, Sphere’s 20 employees will be joining Twitter’s team.
- Sphere’s mission is to bring people together by building community. It creates a space for meaningful conversations.
- This is co-founder D’Aloiso’s second successful exit. In 2013, Yahoo acquired D’Aloisio’s news curation app Summly for a reported $30M.
