Have a wonderful week! Now onto the news:

1. Data processing and analytics company, Splunk, has purchased cloud monitoring service SignalFx for $1.05 billion. SignalFx is a cloud monitoring service that allows users to collect and analyze data from infrastructure, microservices, and applications. According to Splunk, the deal will help place the company as a leader in "monitoring and observability at massive scale." The acquisition is expected to finalize in the second half of 2020. - TECHCRUNCH

2. Google has released the "single-click option" Cloud Run Button. It is essentially an image or link developers can add in the READMEs of their repositories that others can then click on to deploy your app to Google Cloud Platform using Cloud Run. According to Google, after being deployed, it is then hosted in your Google Cloud Project project, where Cloud Run will then only charge you when the application handles requests. Check out a demo here. - THE REGISTER

3. Some of the leading cloud service providers have teamed up to create a new initiative dedicated to improving cloud security. Google Cloud, Microsoft, Alibaba Cloud, IBM, Red Hat, Baidu, Intel, Red Hat, Swisscom, Arm, and Tencent launched the Confidential Computing Consortium at the Linux Foundation’s Open Source Summit. According to the group, it is a community that aims to promote industry-wide security standards and "advance computational trust." “Confidential computing will enable encrypted data to be processed in memory without exposing it to the rest of the system and reduce exposure for sensitive data and provide greater control and transparency for users,” the group said. - THE NEXT WEB

4. VMWare has purchased application runtime security startup Intrinsic. As a result of the purchase, VMWare will now be able to secure serverless functions on AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. The company did not disclose the terms of the deal or how much it acquired Intrinsic for. - SDXCENTRAL

5. Tencent Cloud announced it has joined forces with gamer lifestyler brand Razer to define cloud gaming standards. Through the collaboration, the two says it will launch gaming hardware compatible with Tencent Cloud gaming solutions by the end of 2019. In addition, Razer will support Tencent Cloud in expanding globally, while also working on integrating Tencent’s cloud gaming titles with its software products and technologies and more. - BUSINESS WIRE
