Joe Biden has been inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States. In his inaugural address, Biden said, "this is America’s day. This is democracy’s day. A day in history and hope, of renewal and resolve." Kamala Harris was sworn in as the country's first Black, first South Asian, and first female vice president.

• At 78, Biden is the oldest president in U.S. history and the second Catholic, after John F. Kennedy.
• Biden was sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts, while Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor inaugurated Harris.
• Shortly after the inauguration, Biden and Harris went to the Arlington National Cemetary to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Former Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama also attended the ceremony.
• Biden was expected to sign 17 executive orders today, with many aimed at overturning President Trump's policies, including the Muslim travel ban.
• Biden will also return the U.S. to the Paris Climate Agreement and halt the construction of the border wall.
• During his first 100 days in office, Biden plans to administer 100 million vaccines, and send a $1.9T stimulus package and a sweeping immigration reform to Congress.

In his final speech as president, Donald Trump touted his administration's accomplishments, including the creation of the Space Force, the remaking of the federal judiciary, and the introduction of tax cuts. Trump thanked his family and told his supporters that he "will be back in some form." He made the remarks at Joint Base Andrews, in Maryland, before flying to Florida on Air Force One.

Forbes is launching its own paid newsletter platform where users can subscribe to individual contributors, Axios reports. Revenue from subscriptions will be split with Forbes 50/50, though approved writers will receive a "guaranteed minimum of a full-time Forbes salary and benefits," plus ad revenue share. There will be more editorial oversight over newsletter content than on a platform like Substack, which only takes a 10% cut of subscription revenue.

• Forbes will launch the platform with 20-30 writers who already have significant followings, including former Houston Chronicle tech editor Dwight Silverman and Forbes travel writer Suzanne Rowan Kelleher.
• Ultimately, Forbes wants to make the platform available to all 2,800 of its contributors.
• The ad revenue share for writers will be based on page views and recurring visitors.
• Newsletter subscriptions will need to be purchased individually; a Forbes unlimited access digital subscription will not gain users access to all newsletter content.
• The first newsletters as part of Forbes' new program are expected to launch closer to Q2.

Netflix reported its fourth-quarter earnings on Tuesday, announcing that the company was close to becoming free cash flow positive and had surpassed 200 million paid subscribers. Following the release, Netflix stock rose around 12% in after-hours trading.

• Netflix earned $1.39 billion in Q4 (on $6.64 billion in revenue), besting expectations.

• Netflix also announced plans to launch the long-rumored Shuffle Play feature -- which will automatically choose content to stream based on your viewing history -- globally in 2021.
