GOOD NEWS: A major Taiwanese Buddhist group agreed to buy 5 million doses of the BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine through the company's sales agent in China. Taiwan had experienced months of delays in securing vaccines, which it blamed on China. Earlier in July, Taiwan's Foxconn and TSMC agreed to buy 10 million doses of the BioNTech vaccine. In June, the Tzu Chi Foundation said it was bidding for the vaccines, which will be donated to the government. The government of Taiwan allowed the companies and the foundation to negotiate with BioNTech on its behalf.
