1. Insanely good product:

Classic One Hand Vacuum Mug

I've owned at least 20 travel coffee mugs in my life, and each one has had serious flaws. Some don't keep your coffee hot. Others spill every time you take a sip. Others require complicated processes for sipping on the go.

I first got a Stanley Classic One Hand Vacuum Mug 3 years ago, and I'm still convinced it's the perfect coffee mug. It's super durable (I've dropped it off my bike several times with no issue). It NEVER spills – like, you can throw it in your bag upside down and you won't have any issues. It keeps coffee hot for hours. And, the simple button design makes it super easy to sip on the go.

Get it now on Amazon for $26.65 (recommendation by @awwstn)

2. Steep discount:

ISSIKI JAPAN Professional 8 Inch Chef's Knife (76% off)

This Japanese high carbon stainless steel chef's knife is highly rated, versatile, and beautifully designed – especially considering it's being offered at nearly $100 off the sticker price. Here's a top review: "For the money, this is a heck of a good knife. It cuts very well. Also, it's made from a high carbon steel. You really can't go wrong."

It's not going to be the best knife on earth, but it just might be the best knife you can find under $50.

3. Passive income story:

Product Manager HQ

Kevin Lee is a product manager, and he wanted a place to share ideas and resources with other people like him. So, he created a Slack chatroom called Product Manager HQ. Three years later, it's a vibrant community and online resource for experience and aspiring PMs, and it pays Kevin $6,000/month in passive income.

4. Money-saving hack:

Put a brick in your toilet

Most modern toilets are designed to use more water than they really need, and simply dropping a brick into your toilet tank will reduce the amount of water used in each flush – saving you cash and helping the environment. Your savings will depend on the number of people in your household and your local water costs, but people have reported saving more than $125/year with this easy, eco-friendly change. (note: some experts suggest putting the brick in a plastic bag to avoid erosion)

If you want to take a slightly more advanced approach check out the Tank Bank on Amazon.

5. DIY Project:

West Elm coffee table ($955 savings)

That coffee table below looks pretty nice, doesn't it? Normally, it would run you $999 at West Elm, but the folks over at DIY Candy have put together detailed plans to build it yourself, for...$45!

It's going to take some time commitment, tools, and a bit of know-how. But if you or someone you know has the skills and the tools, you could walk away with a $1,000 coffee table for fifty bucks.

6. Crazy travel deal:

NYC to Havana, Cuba for $284

We're still working out the best way to feature non-localized travel deals in this newsletter, but for now will try to feature a wide range of starting points – and also we'll feature deals that are agnostic to starting point, like hotel discounts.

Today, we couldn't help but share this deal for folks in NYC to get a round trip flight to Havana for $284 in July and August.

For specific dates and booking details, see this post on Secret Flying.
