Consensus Favorite: Honeywell and Lasko Space Heaters Offer The Best Under $70:

1. Because there's clearly no better way to spend one's time, The Wirecutter tested 48 space heaters over a span of five years. What it concluded aligns with Consumer Reports' test results: Lasko and Honeywell boast some of the best ones on the market under $70. That might seem like a lot, but considering space heaters can go for as much as $450, that's a good deal.

While both brands offer models that excel at heating a full room well, safely, and quickly, some are better at certain things than others. Here's a round-up of some to help you find the best without breaking the bank:

Lasko:

  • Selling at just $26 today, the Lasko 754200 Ceramic Heater is one of the cheapest powerful space heaters. It works quickly, comes with a great warranty, and can last for years, although it lacks some safety features more expensive models boast. Inside's very own breaking news editor, Krystle Vermes, says she owned one for over five years now. She says "it works like a charm" taking "virtually no time at all to heat up." Consumer Reports also recommends the Lasko Designer Series 6435, praising it as one of the fastest space heaters. At $52, the latter is more expensive, however.

Honeywell:

  • Honeywell UberHeat Ceramic Heater HCE200W is considered safer than the Lasko 754200 Ceramic Heater, but it lacks some of its power. Still, at about $41, it's cheaper than the second Lasko Designer Series 6345. Consumer Reports also recommends the Honeywell HCE311V for its speed, and it's currently on sale for $38 from Staples.

Do you have an awesome alternative space heater recommendation or another product suggestion altogether? Send me your tips to deals@inside.com for a chance to be featured!

One-way tickets to Cabo or Costa Rica can usually cost between $400-$530, but the airline is currently offering these routes for as low as $269 from airports in San Jose and San Francisco. This is still a good deal for readers from Southern California, Oregon, and even Nevada willing to carpool (that's usually the cheapest option) to Northern California.
