HTTPS Certificates Lifetime May Lower / Go 1.12.8, Go 1.11.13 / .NET Core 3.0 Preview 8

1. The CA/Browser Forum is contemplating reducing the lifetime of HTTPS certificates from 27 months to 13 months. The plan was introduced by Googler Ryan Sleevi a year after the forum lowered the maximum lifetime from 39 months to 27 months, forcing websites to renew their certificates more frequently. If passed, the changes would go into effect starting in March 2020. - THE REGISTER


2. Go 1.12.8 and Go 1.11.13 are now available. These are security releases fixing both Denial of Service vulnerabilities in the HTTP/2 implementation and a parsing validation issue. Users are encouraged to update as soon as possible; the Go team advises you upgrade to Go 1.12.8 if you're not sure which one to choose. - GOLANG GOOGLE GROUPS


3. Microsoft has released .NET Core 3.0 Preview 8. This version comes with new updates to ASP.NET Core and Blazor, featuring project template updates, case-sensitive component binding, and more. However, .NET Core 3.0 Preview 8 does not contain any new features. .NET Core 3.0 is due for release in September 2019. - MICROSOFT


4. MongoDB Server 4.2 is now generally available. New features include language improvements such as more expressive updates and new math operators, as well as new features such as distributed transactions and wildcard indexes. For more details, check out the release notes. - MONGODB


5. Angular v9: 9.0.0-next.2 and 8.2.2 are now available. Neither includes new features, but both do address a number of bug fixes, which you can check out in detail here. Angular v9: 9.0.0-next.2 for example, disables treeshaking when generating the FESM and UMD bundles. - JAX ENTER


6. Former AWS software engineer Paige A. Thompson, who is accused of hacking into Capital One, is now also being accused of stealing data from over 30 companies. - ZDNET
