Google Chrome 86 will hide full addresses, Chrome 86 Canary and Dev releases reveal. However, users will have the option to opt-out and see the addresses if they want to by clicking on the "Always show full URLs" option in the right-click menu.
- To see the changes, install Chrome 86's Canary or Dev releases, and activate these flags: #omnibox-ui-reveal-steady-state-url-path-query-and-ref-on-hover and #omnibox-ui-sometimes-elide-to-registrable-domain.
- You can also activate #omnibox-ui-hide-steady-state-url-path-query-and-ref-on-interaction to show the full URL on page load until you interact with the page.
- Chrome 86 will be released on Oct. 6.
- Google had also added feature flags in Chrome 85's Dev and Canary channels that shorten full URLs in the address bar.
