Amazon, Codefresh, GitHub, Microsoft, and Weaveworks launched the GitOps Working Group. The open Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) community project aims to arm individuals and businesses with GitOps tooling skills and methodologies that can make managing infrastructure and cloud-native apps simpler.
- The project will initially be a part of the CNCF fluxcd GitHub organization. It will first work on launching a vendor-neutral GitOps Manifesto defining the principles and technical aspects of GitOps. That will be published in March 2021.
- The creators defined the Five GitOps Principles as follows: Declarative Configuration; Version controlled, immutable storage; Automated delivery; Software Agents; and Closed loop. You can read more about them in detail here.
- Businesses and individuals actively participating in the GitOps ecosystem are invited to join the community.
