The first release candidate of Erlang/OTP 24 is now available. Highlights include:
- Addition of the BeamAsm JIT-compiler
- A compatibility adaptor for gen_tcp to use the new socket API
- Compiler warnings and errors now feature column numbers in addition to line numbers
- Support for FTPES (explicit FTP over TLS)
- Support for the "early data" feature for TLS 1.3 servers and clients

Red Hat is now offering no-cost Red Hat Enterprise Linux for open-source infrastructure in addition to small production environments.
More:
- Eligible organizations include open-source projects as well organizations that support open-source software production, with open source being defined as all software distributed under a Fedora-approved license. Individual developers are not eligible, however.
- No-cost RHEL subscriptions include build systems, continuous integration (CI) testing, web servers, and more. Free support may also be offered depending on the scope and nature of the organization.
- The news comes a month after Red Hat announced its RHEL Developer subscription would be supported in a production environment of up to 16 systems.

- New capabilities that make it possible to connect multiple databases simultaneously while accelerating Hasura support for additional database engines
- Support for REST, in addition to GraphQL, for the user-facing API
- Metadata API tooling
- A new "maintenance mode" that allows for major Hasura version upgrades of itself without causing the GraphQL API and event delivery systems to suffer any downtime
