Microsoft's web-based Visual Studio Code is now available. The lightweight version of VS code runs entirely in the browser and does not require any installation. It requires a browser that supports File System Access API (Chrome, Edge, etc.), allowing web pages to access the local file system. It also runs on iPads and Chromebooks.
- It also comes with built-in GitHub repositories, codespaces, and pull requests to make quick edits, review PRs, and continue on to a local clone or GitHub Codebase.
- UI customization extensions like themes, keymaps, snippets, and extensions like Luna Paint Image Editor and GitHub Issue Notebooks work on vscode.dev; however, extensions that run Node.js that use OS-specific modules are unavailable.
