Apple has announced updates to its App Store guidelines. The new guidelines let developers contact users regarding alternate payment methods outside the App Store.
- Apple deleted Guideline 3.1.3 that prevents developers from communicating with users regarding alternate payment methods and added 5.1.1. (x), which will let apps request users' basic information like name and email address, but also states that the request should be optional.
- Like Google, Apple also has also been facing criticism from developers and backlash from regulators for restricting in-app purchases within the respective app stores.
- From next week, developers will be able to create in-app events in App Store Connect and schedule them to appear on the App Store.
