Jet Brains announced the beta of Dokka, a documentation engine for Kotlin. The development team is inviting feedback to polish the UI and UX of the HTML output format to fulfill community requirements.
- Dokka generates documentation based on the Javadoc or KDoc comments and outputs the generated document in HTML, GitHub flavored Markdown or Javadoc format.
- It generates documentation for any Android app or library.
- The development team plans to stabilize the HTML output, include Dokka in the Gradle plugin, and fix the out-of-memory issue for large projects before the stable release.
- Separate but related: Kotlin announced that it discovered a couple of issues affecting the compatibility of Kotlin Multiplatform libraries using the most recent versions of Kotlin, Gradle, and the Android Gradle Plugin. It recommends developers continue using Kotlin 1.5.31 and AGP 7.0.X (or older).
