Inside Drones (Oct 26th, 2016)

This week we've got a behind-the-scenes look at one of the first drone races to be broadcast by ESPN. Do you think drone racing could be the next NASCAR? Hit "Reply" and let us know. -- Chris

I Took Second Place at the DSA DroneWorlds

The DroneWorlds Drone Racing Championships took place last weekend at Kualoa Ranch in Oahu, Hawaii (probably best known as a filming location for “Jurassic Park”). The event was one of the first to be livestreamed by ESPN as part of their partnership with the International Drone Racing Association. The network says drone racing is “poised to become the next behemoth racing sport alongside NASCAR and Formula 1.”

There’s no official footage of the race so far, but Paul “Bulbufet” Nurkkala, who came in second place to world champion Shaun Taylor, filmed a series of GoPro videos during his trip to DroneWorlds, including this footage of his run through the course. If you’ve never been to a major drone race before, this is a pretty cool look at what the atmosphere is like.

Check out the rest of Bulbufet’s channel to watch him taking practice flights in various gorgeous locations in Oahu.
