Three hundred drones took flight over PyeongChang to celebrate the closing of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games on Sunday. The Intel Shooting Star drones created figures in the sky of the Olympic mascot, a white tiger named Soohorang, and other shapes. Intel also produced a drone show for the Games' opening ceremony, which featured more than 1,200 drones in a pre-recorded broadcast. Shooting Star drones weigh about 10 ounces and come with built-in LED lights. According to the company, a single operator can control hundreds of drones simultaneously. - THEDRIVE

A witness saw the man walk away from a car accident early Sunday on the A16 highway near Ludborough, Lincolnshire. Police dispatched a DJI Inspire drone, equipped with an infrared camera, to track down the unnamed man, who was found "unresponsive and hypothermic" about 500 feet away from the accident scene, the BBC reported. A drone will map out radiation contamination in the reactor building of Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. The RISER drone, which stands for Remote Intelligence Survey Equipment for Radiation, will create a 3D image of contamination in parts of the building that haven't been accessed before, reports said. The drone relies on a laser-based technology to avoid obstacles and autonomously navigate areas. U.K.-based Blue Bear Systems Research Limited developed the drone, which uses N-Visage radiation mapping software from Createc. It was first deployed at the Fukushima power plant several years ago. - DRONEDJ
