1. Police, military, and airport officials have joined forces to investigate a recent drone sighting that affected London's Heathrow Airport. Europe's busiest airport closed one of its runways for an hour on Tuesday after the drone was allegedly spotted nearby. According to the BBC, the military has banded with Scotland Yard, Met Police, and Heathrow Airport officials to launch a full investigation into the incident. “We are carrying out extensive searches around the Heathrow area to identify any people who may be responsible for the operation of the drone,” Met Commander Stuart Cundy said. “The illegal operation of drones at an airfield is extremely dangerous.” - THE DRIVE

2. Chinese drone manufacturer DJI has issued a statement urging people to remain cautious about drone incidents at airports. The news comes after drones were allegedly spotted at London's Gatwick and Heathrow airports, which temporarily halted departures that impacted thousands of travelers. In a statement, DJI said the recent airport sightings "may be influenced by publicity" and none of the reports have actually been confirmed. "While there have been isolated cases of drones being flown improperly, drones have amassed an admirable safety record around the world, and the overwhelming majority of drone pilots want to fly safely and responsibly," the statement read. - DRONE DJ

Members, however, did pass a policy that allows police to use council land for drone-related purposes. - DRONE LIFE
