Tesla appears to be refreshing the Model 3, according to multiple reports. @WholeMarsBlog shared a collection of photos last night of what appeared to be Model 3 vehicles headed to Japan, labeled as “new process,” and featuring various interior and exterior changes. Electrek also reported the automaker was in the process of refreshing the vehicle for 2021.
- Among the reported updates: stock chrome delete, power truck gate, new darker interior upholstery, a new center console featuring a matte finish, and double-paned glass.
- This refresh will likely feature Tesla’s new heat pump system. A report from The Next Avenue earlier this week said the automaker was assembling Model 3s with the heat pump.
- Unlike traditional automakers, Tesla does not introduce “refreshed” models and instead makes changes to the vehicles on a rolling basis.
- A refresh is not as comprehensive as a complete redesign in the automotive industry but can include some significant changes.
