Facebook clarified guidelines for content on Friday, requesting that articles published be "meaningful" and "authentic." "People want to see accurate information on Facebook, and so do we," according to a Facebook post on Friday. "People tell us that authentic stories are the ones that resonate most." The social networking giant is attempting to weed out so-called fake news that has appeared on the site by raising its standards and partnering with fact-checkers to raise flags if the content is disputed. – POYNTER

Facebook was fined $122 million by the European Union’s antitrust regulators. Authorities said Facebook provided misleading information during its 2014 acquisition of the messenger app, WhatsApp. At issue is whether Facebook was always able to automatically link accounts of WhatsApp and Facebook users. Though the company claimed it was impossible initially, in August 2016, they announced that WhatsApp would now share data, including user phone numbers, with Facebook. Regulators figured this could give Facebook an unfair advantage. – ATLANTIC

Facebook will broadcast 20 regular season MLB games. The games will air weekly on the MLB Facebook page. Games will begin Friday night, May 19, with the Colorado Rockies vs. Cincinnati Reds game at 7:10 PM ET. Future Friday night games for streaming will be announced soon. The MLB partnership follows a similar deal with the MLS to stream live soccer matches. The effort is part of the social network's effort to expand into the world of live and scripted video. – THE VERGE

Users can order food from a delivery service without having to navigate away from Facebook. The company unveiled a new Order Food option on both web and mobile, shaped like a hamburger, which lets users place food pickup and delivery orders using Delivery.com or Slice. Shares of GrubHub, a competitor of Delivery.com and Slice, dipped as much as 3.4 percent on Friday after news of the Facebook food partnerships were announced. – TECH CRUNCH

Facebook has partnered with the former Electronic Sports League to live stream video game tournaments. The company, now known as ESL, will live stream upcoming contests in which players battle each other in the military shooter game "Counter-Strike." According to Business Insider, Facebook is targeting a highly sought after advertising demographic: The mostly young audience is male-dominated, passionate, affluent, and hard to reach on traditional media. About 51 percent of eSports fans are millennials, and 65 percent are between 13-34 years old, per Nielsen. – FORTUNE

Jordan Banks, head of Facebook and Instagram in Canada, is stepping down from the company. Banks has led Facebook’s Canadian operations since 2010 and has helped the company expand from Toronto to Ottawa, Montreal, and Vancouver. Facebook currently has 22 million active monthly users in Canada, while Instagram has 8.5 million users. “After seven of the most incredible years imaginable, it was with mixed emotions that earlier this week I announced my decision to leave Facebook. I have happily agreed to stay in my job until late August so I can help in identifying and onboarding my successor,” Banks said. Before joining Facebook, Banks worked as the managing director for eBay Canada, and the CEO of JumpTV. – BNN
