Facebook will soon allow users to open up a private chat with friends during a Facebook Live stream. Called "Live Chat with Friends," the company is testing the feature in its mobile apps and expects to go live to a broader audience this summer. People hosting the Facebook Live broadcast can drag viewers or guests into the stream; those users can also choose to decline. – ENGADGET

Fast Company offers a revealing look at the Facebook intern experience of Michael Grothaus. He interned in the summer of 2016 when he was 22 years old. The average day for an intern was similar to a full-time employee; a few sessions of coding and reviewing other people’s code, meetings, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and "infinite breaks involving the snack areas and the foosball tables," Grothaus writes. He called the internship experience "perfect." "They took care of every single thing imaginable; housing, travel, local transportation, food, and visa. I had one of the best summers of my life, and I can’t imagine it being any better." – FAST COMPANY

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made a lengthy post on Sunday where he continued to outline his vision for what the social networking platform should be. Zuckerberg also summarized some of his takeaways from his recent tour of the U.S. He wrote that Facebook could become more mission-based. "The Peace Corps creates service opportunities where people exchange culture and build new relationships. Perhaps we could build a new digital peace corps. Another model is Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, where people who have struggled with these challenges and overcome them go on to become mentors for others, with the hope of training them to one day become mentors themselves." – BUSINESS INSIDER

Facebook is dabbling with products that can help users connect with local news sources.Part of the Facebook Journalism Project, the company is testing three products: One points users in community-linked Facebook groups to additional local news. Another offers users who make their cities of residence public a badge identifying them as a local when they comment on a local publisher's stories. A third helps people find local groups. – POYNTER
