Ray Borg explains his reason for backtracking his retirement announcement. According to the 27-year-old fighter, he was talked out of it by kids he used to coach.
- According to “The Tazmexican Devil,” another conversation with his wife further made him decide against calling it quits. She convinced him to do it for their son, who already endured two brain surgeries as a newborn because of hydrocephalus.
- Borg announced his retirement via Instagram last week. He ended up deleting the said post.
- The former UFC title challenger faced a rough few weeks. In 2020 alone, he was pulled off from two of his scheduled fights. He was supposed to be part of the UFC’s Aug. 1 card in Las Vegas but withdrew without giving a specific reason.
- His inconsistency and failure to commit to bookings led to his UFC release on Aug. 7. Borg last saw action in May and lost via split decision.
