Undefeated prospect Khamzat Chimaev wants to fight for the welterweight and middleweight UFC titles. The 26-year-old Chechnya-born fighter notched his fourth straight UFC win on Saturday by knocking out middleweight Gerald Meerschaert inside 17 seconds of action.
- Chimaev entered the UFC in July and fought middleweight John Phillips. He won via second round submission. “Borz” made a quick turnaround 11 days later to fight Rhys McKee in a welterweight bout. He won via first-round knockout and set a UFC record for the quickest turnaround win.
- After his win against Meerschaert, Chimaev will likely face two-time title contender and respected veteran Demian Maia next. It was a matchup the UFC already booked in advance.
- All of his three wins in the UFC earned him a Performance of the Night bonus, which he took home a $50K bonus from. Chimaev has so far received nothing but praises from UFC president Dana White.
