- Abdelaziz fears Chimaev would “put McGregor in a wheelchair” if they fought. He says the Irishman would also end up “drinking from a straw for the rest of his life.”
- There’s been tension between McGregor and Abdelaziz. All of it began in 2018 when McGregor fought another one of Abdelaziz’s clients, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
- Chiamev has been on a tear, racking up a three-fight streak in a UFC over the last two months. He last saw action on Saturday, when he knocked out middleweight veteran Gerald Meerschaert inside 17 seconds.
- McGregor, on the other hand, hasn’t fought since January, when he finished Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone inside 46 seconds. He announced his retirement in June, but the UFC is said to be planning “fun stuff” for him for 2021.
