UFC veteran and respected coach James Krause is taking a short-notice fight. On just 13 days’ notice, the 34-year-old decided to step in and face Claudio Silva on Oct. 17.
- Silva’s original opponent Muslim Salikhov pulled out earlier this week due to undisclosed reasons. This urged Krause to fly to Abu Dhabi from the United States to partake in the UFC’s fifth non-pay-per-view event in “Fight Island.”
- Krause last competed in February, where he also stepped in as a late replacement to fight Trevin Giles. He ended up losing via a controversial split decision verdict to snap a six-fight win streak.
- After the said fight, UFC president Dana White urged Krause not to take short-notice fights anymore. He did, however, write Krause a “nice cheque” for his efforts.
