Firas Zahabi predicts a “50% chance" for Georges St-Pierre to come out of retirement and fight Khabib Nurmagomedov. But according to Tristar Gym’s head coach, Nurmagomedov will need a “stellar” win against Justin Gaethje to entice St-Pierre.
- Talks about a super fight between St-Pierre and Nurmagomedov have been going on for years now. For both men, it’s the perfect “legacy fight” to punctuate their respective careers with.
- One issue St-Pierre raised was the weight class they’d meet at. Khabib has mainly fought at 155 pounds his entire career. St-Pierre, on the other hand, has competed at 170 pounds and 185 pounds. At 39-years-old, he feels it would be a challenge to cut down the weight. For this reason, he is suggesting a possible catchweight to “make it fair.”
- As for Nurmagomedov, he is facing what many believe to be the toughest test of his career in Gaethje. The two will headline UFC 254 on Oct. 24 to culminate the “Fight Island” events in Abu Dhabi.
