Chase Sherman accepted a nine-month suspension from USADA. The 30-year-old UFC heavyweight tested positive for anastrozole.
- While anastrozole is an anti-estrogen, many male athletes use it to counterbalance the sudden boost of testosterone they get from performance-enhancing drugs. It was found in Herman’s system in May, after his UFC return fight against Isaac Villanueva.
- According to an official statement from USADA, Sherman came forward to disclose his usage upon entering their program but failed to do so in his onboarding declaration form. He will be eligible to return on Feb. 13, 2021.
- Sherman is on his second stint in the UFC, with the first one happening from 2016 to 2018. He went on to rack up wins in smaller organizations throughout 2019 before re-signing with the company this year.
