Additional UFC 254 Updates
- Conor McGregor says he will carry on from his rivalry with Khabib Nurmagomedov. The two became bitter rivals during the build-up of their UFC 229 headliner fight in 2018. Trash talking became more personal when McGregor began talking ill about Nurmagomedov’s family and Islamic faith.
- Coach Javier Mendez revealed Khabib Nurmagomedov’s pre-fight ailments. According to him, the champ had mumps and suffered a broken toe during training camp.
- Daniel Cormier says Khabib took mercy on Justin Gaethje. Knowing Gaethje won’t tap out, Khabib opted to choke him unconscious instead of going for an arm lock for less damage. He also decided to do so knowing that Justin’s parents were watching live.
- Jon Jones strongly argued against Nurmagomedov’s placement as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC. He believes he holds a more superior record with a total of 15 title defenses compared to Khabib’s three.
