Acast’s U.K. content director predicts that daily news podcasts could soon take off in that country. Speaking to The Guardian in a piece that profiled the surge of mostly U.S.-based daily news podcasts, Susie Warhurst said she thinks the U.K. market is “about to experience a massive boom” of similar shows. Focusing mainly on “The Daily,” which helped The New York Times drive an 11 percent increase in digital advertising revenue last year, the piece also speculated on whether U.K. publications would adopt daily audio as a way to grow digital revenue. The BBC does currently publish the twice-daily “Global News Podcast,” although it relies on repurposed radio reports, and not original content, for that show. - THE GUARDIAN
