Amidst the Kevin Williamson controversy, The Daily Beast’s Matt Lewis explores podcasts as a venue for political commentary. Williamson was fired from “The Atlantic” after outrage over comments about abortion that he shared in a 2014 podcast. While conceding that Williamson’s comments would be considered out-of-line on any medium, Lewis muses that for other political thinkers, podcasts have become a place to test new ideas, because listeners are often more forgiving toward hosts whose shows they’ve proactively chosen to subscribe to. - THE DAILY BEAST
