Inside San Francisco (Mar 7th, 2018)

Tomorrow's forecast will be cloudy skies with a high/low of 59/50 Fahrenheit. On Friday, expect showers with a high/low of 58/48 Fahrenheit.

An armed robbery suspect hiding in a car trunk was fatally shot by San Francisco police last night. The incident occurred just after 10:30pm PT when two victims of an armed robbery flagged down officers in a police car near 20th and Capp Streets in the Mission District. Police were able to identify the suspect's vehicle and pulled it over. The driver and the passenger of a dark colored Honda Civic were both arrested without incident but officers noticed that the vehicle trunk was ajar and spotted another suspect. While attempting to detain the subject, shots were fired and the suspect died at the scene. A gun was found in the trunk although it is unclear if the suspect shot at officers. Witnesses report that SFPD officers were commanding the suspect out of the trunk in both Spanish and English. As is protocol, the shooting is being investigated by SFPD Homicide Detail, the San Francisco District Attorneys’ Office Independent Investigation Bureau, the San Francisco Department of Police Accountability, the SFPD Internal Affairs Division and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. - SFGATE

San Francisco is just days away from Hamburger Mary's grand opening. Get ready for "a flamboyant dining experience," Castro District. According to a Hoodline source, the much-anticipated hamburger spot at 531 Castro Street will open on Sunday or Monday. The original Hamburger Mary's operated from 1972 to 2001 on Folsom Street and was one of the country's first LGBT-friendly restaurants. The spot's popularity led to additional locations, of which 18 are still in operation. Still, the new Castro spot will be San Francisco's only Hamburger Mary's since the original closed. Signs in the space's windows are seeking job applicants with the question, "Are you awesome?" - HOODLINE

COMMUNITY NEWS: SAN MATEO

A convicted sex offender was arrested for allegedly masturbating and exposing himself in front of a 16-year-old girl. The incident occurred on Monday at around 5:55pm PT near the Monte Diablo Avenue and Amphlett Boulevard pedestrian crossing. The victim reported the incident to police who located the suspect, 35-year-old Cristian Morales, still in the area. Morales, a registered sex offender, is being held at the San Mateo County Jail.

An "aggressive" mountain lion was spotted in a San Mateo County backyard yesterday. The lion was seen at approximately 4:30am PT at a home on the 5000 block of Pescadero Creek Road in Pescadero. According to authorities, "The animal approached the back door of the home and was not intimidated by two large pit bulls that confronted it at the time." Area residents are asked to use caution, particularly at night or in the early morning hours.

Save the date! Four-time Grammy-winning group TLC will headline this summer's San Mateo County Fair. The fair is slated to run June 9 through June 17, with TLC performing at 7:30pm PT on June 10. Other county fair performers will include Sheila E., Sugar Ray, Pablo Cruise, and world-renowned Master Illusionist Peter Gossamer.
