Production started on Netflix's scripted drama series about the history of Spotify. The 6-part limited series stars "Vikings" vet Edvin Endre as Swedish tech entrepreneur Daniel Ek, who launched the music and audio streaming service along with partners in 2006.
- The series is inspired by the book "Spotify Untold" by Swedish business reporters Sven Carlsson and Jonas Leijonhufvud.
- Per-Olav Sørensen (“Home for Christmas”) will direct the series, which is expected to debut on Netflix in 2022.
- The series will cover notable events from throughout Spotify's history, including the difficulty of signing up record labels; a battle against Apple and Steve Jobs when launching in the US; and widely-publicized conflicts with artists including Taylor Swift and Bob Dylan.
- Carlsson and Leijonhufvud conducted more than 70 interviews when writing the book.
