Inside Trump (Jun 12th, 2019)

1. The president asserted executive privilege over congressional subpoenaed materials concerning the Trump administration's decision to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census. The announcement comes after the House approved a resolution authorizing the House Judiciary Committee and other panels to sue Attorney General William Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross for ignoring Mueller investigation-related subpoenas. Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd had warned Trump would invoke an executive privilege if the House pushed forward with these contempt votes. - THE HILL

2. A Senate Intelligence Committee continues questioning Donald Trump Jr. during a second closed-door interview today. While it's not certain what exactly will be discussed, it's believed the interview will focus on a Moscow Trump Tower project that Trump Jr. previously testified he was only “peripherally aware” of. Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen later contradicted his remarks. Asked if he was going to correct his testimony on the way to the meeting, Trump Jr. told reporters he has "nothing to correct." It is believed the Senate will also ask Trump Jr. about a 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer during his father's campaign. - THE WASHINGTON POST

3. President Trump and Joe Biden traded insults while both politicians were visiting Iowa, an important caucus state. Biden accused the president of posing an "existential threat" to the U.S. while mocking Trump's knowledge of tariffs, his character, climate change policies and approach to health care. Meanwhile, Trump — who was visiting Iowa to deliver a speech at Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy, an ethanol company — questioned Biden's mental and physical strength. Trump said Biden's a "loser" who is "slower than he used to be." Trump said he'd "rather run against Biden." - NBC NEWS

4. President Trump waved around a document to reporters he alleges includes secret components of his migrant deal with Mexico. "This is one page of a very long and very good agreement for both Mexico and the United States," Trump told reporters after pulling the paper out of his coat pocket. While Trump did not allow reporters to read it, a Reuters photograph of the document reveals the deal lays out "a regional approach to burden-sharing in relation to the processing of refugee status claims to migrants." - REUTERS
