VC Industry Trends: Global InsurTech Funding

While it is clear that the average round has grown since 2015, the change is not as pronounced as in other categories. Whereas many verticals only saw an explosion in the average round the last year, insurtech's peaked in late 2017. Correspondingly, the number of rounds began falling late and hit a steep decline in late 2019.
Looking at total funding broken down by type, it is clear that venture funding has become more important for this segment in the last three years, while private equity and post-IPO funding has waned.
