Crunchbase’s European Venture Funding Q3’20*

Generally speaking, the continent has seen between 16% and 55% growth per year over the last decade. Yet European VC funding is down 17% for the first three quarters of 2020 compared with its peak in 2019. Q3’20 itself saw a substantial uptick, pulling in more capital for startups than any other quarter since Q3’19. The total funding amount came in at about $10B, still down almost 12% YoY but up 21% QoQ (see graph).
