Huawei showed off its upcoming VR2 headset at CES 2018. The next iteration of the company's VR headset doesn't have a release date or price yet, but reviewers had a chance to demo it at the show. It's not a true standalone headset, and connects to a phone, tablet or even a PC via USB-C, but it is the only IMAX-certified headset. The VR2 has 3K resolution of 1,600 x 1,440 per eye and a 90Hz refresh rate. The device is compatible with Steam and Google Daydream content, and Huawei is also building its own library of content. — TECHRADAR

Kopin has produced a second generation of its Solos smartglasses and a new 2K OLED microdisplay for high resolution VR. Kopin is one of the world's largest microdisplay companies but is less well known because it has primarily fulfilled military contracts. The Solos smartglasses for cyclists was one of its early consumer products, and the next generation of the glasses (seen at CES 2018) have integrated audio and voice control. Kopin also exhibited its 2K OLED microdisplay, which is so small and with such high resolution that it could reduce the size of VR headsets by 40 percent. — DIGITAL TRENDS
