Microsoft revealed an experimental VR device that gives haptic feedback called the "CLAW." The company announced its work on the CLAW late last week. The CLAW is a VR controller that operates as a multifunctional haptic tool. The device uses servo motors, force sensors, and a voice coil actuator to replicate various types of sensations a person feels when touching an object, including activating a trigger. — GIZMODO

The Japanese game studio Voltage Inc. has released Wedding VR on the Oculus Store and Steam. The company's wedding simulator features three anime spouses for users to select: handsome modern-looking Yamato Kougami, European prince Henry A. Spencer, and Japanese warrior Masamune Date. Voltage typically focuses on dating simulators and "romance games" in 2D. There have been other Japanese anime marriages previously offered in virtual reality, but this experience is available to Western audiences. Wedding VR costs $8. — ROADTOVR

AppAttic introduced Magic Moovr, a VR rehab game for stroke patients, at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival. Magic Moovr uses the Pico Neo 6DoF headset along with two motion controllers and Leap Motion's 180-degree hand tracking. The experience was designed in collaboration with neurological physiotherapists to help patients through all the stages of a patient's rehabilitation in a fun, social environment. — VRFOCUS

The PGA (Professional Golfers' Association) Tour is launching a new AR app for spectators and golf fans. The PGA Tour created the app with developer Possible Mobile, and it is available now in the App Store for ARKit-compatible devices. The app lets users view miniature models of the golf courses and follow along with the action at the sixth hole with shot trails and animated data. Golf courses include Pebble Beach in Monterey County, California, Bay Hill near Orlando, TPC Sawgrass in Jacksonville, Florida, and East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, but as the season progresses more models will be added. — NEXT REALITY

The NCAA March Madness Live VR app will be available this year for 21 games. The app is powered by Intel True VR and fans can access immersive experiences starting with the first round of the tournament and running through the Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final Four and National Championship. The app is available for free today the Oculus Store and the Google Play store. Users can purchase individual games for $2.99 or a "tournament pass" for $19.99. — NCAA

Hospitals are using VR to help patients deal with pain. A study at Cedars-Sinai found that patients who watched VR reported a 24 percent drop in pain scores, while patients watching 2D videos only reported a 13.2 percent reduction in pain. Cedars-Sinai uses Samsung Gear VR through a partnership with content provider AppliedVR, and nearly 2,500 patients have used the technology since 2015. Packard Children's Hospital in Stanford also uses VR for pain mitigation. Packard Children's program was developed through its Chariot program (Childhood Anxiety Reduction through Innovation and Technology), using Samsung Gear VR and custom content designed by Weightless Studio. — CNET
