The latest beta version of SteamVR is testing a new system that lets its games or apps support any type of controllers. The SteamVR Input system lets developers offer alternate ways to control the game or app without updating the title, and allows gamers to adjust their controller setups and share them via Steam Workshop. Valve, the corporation behind SteamVR, has released the information on Github to enable third-party hardware manufacturers to use the new input capabilities for controllers. — ENGADGET

The Chinese VR company ANTVR is launching a crowdfunding campaign to support its new hybrid VR/AR headset. The developers hope to raise $50,000 for the Mix headset on Kickstarter, which is also where ANTVR launched its first VR headset and controller. The Mix is tethered to a PC and features two 1,200 × 1,200 displays with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 96-degree FOV. ANTVR plans to ship the device in December 2018. — ROADTOVR

Merlin Entertainment is bringing a VR attraction to its LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Boston. The new attraction is a VR racing simulation called The Great LEGO Race VR Experience. The experience was created in partnership with Immotion, and it will allow visitors to sit inside Immotion pods that combine sight, sound, and motion to create an immersive experience. The Great LEGO Race will join other existing immersive attractions at LEGOLAND including the 4D cinema. — VRFOCUS

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has created a VR experience to help people empathize with animals. The animal rights organization developed Eye to Eye in partnership with both digital agency Demodern and creative agency Kolle Rebbe. Eye to Eye lets the user engage in a conversation with a virtual rabbit and visit scenes including a serene, riverside forest and a slaughterhouse. A real-time VR dialogue system enables unique discussions between users and the creature. PETA will celebrate the release of Eye to Eye at this year's re:publica internet and technology conference in Berlin. — VRSCOUT

ABC News is adding AR features to its app for the upcoming royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The news network made the announcement this week, and the Royal Wedding AR Experience will let users see 3D models of the royal wedding carriage and a queen's guard in augmented reality and to manipulate and share the AR photos. The features are only available on the ABC News iOS app and the network will share some of the photos posted on social media using the #RoyalWeddingAR hashtag up until the wedding on Saturday. — MOBILEMARKETER

Brush Monster is a new toothbrush with AR tech to help kids learn to brush their teeth better. Brush Monster was developed by Kitten Planet, a company that grew out of Samsung's C-Lab incubator. The toothbrush costs $49 and connects to iOS and Android devices using Bluetooth. Sensors in the toothbrush track the location and movement of a child's brushing routine and use the data to help coach kids on how to brush more effectively. More than 10,000 users have beta-tested the app. — NEXTREALITY
