1. After Bordeaux, Burgundy is France’s most popular wine. In America, Napa wines rule, but what is America’s equivalent to Burgundy? What are the wines that are most popular once you remove Napa from the equation? The top wines are still from mostly California -  Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon from the Columbia Valley in Washington is the only one not in the Golden State on this list - and about half of them are Cabernet Sauvignon or a blend with the King of Grapes. -  WINESEARCHER


2. California Wine Country revenues rose last year, helping to bring California’s tourism spending to $140 billion in 2018. Some of the economic impact in Sonoma County was due to 2017’s fires; many of the lodging room was filled with people displaced from their homes. Still, there was a 4.4% increase in visitor spending between 2017 and 2018. 3. Spanish wine is having a renaissance, and it’s not only in the better-known regions. Spurred on by young winemakers interested in ancient grapes such as mencía and treixaduras, and producers such as Envínate who make wine a number of regions around the country, exciting things are happening everywhere. 4. The luxe factor of Walla Walla Washington’s wine region has reached a new height with the opening of a new wine resort. Eritage Resort, opened by Justin Wylie of Va Piano Vineyards, sits among 300 acres of vineyards and wheat fields. This luxury resort at one end of the road that travels throughout the region’s wine country, making it easy to get to wineries, tasting rooms and restaurants. - SEATTLE MAGAZINE
