Award-winning VR creator @alexmakesvr is the founder of what has to be one of the best-named companies ever - "Cats are Not Peas" - and was named among the Drum's "50 under 30" and winner of a Women of the Future Award
She is an advocate for addressing the burning issues around VR Ethics, especially in relation to how we deal with its power to virtually immortalize us. She delivered a popular TEDx Talk on the subject last year, which is perfect food for thought in these strange times, where most of us are stuck at home obsessively checking our Facebook feeds.
As she wrote in a recent editorial for UploadVR:
“Imagine if, ten years after her death, I could relive the memory of my grandma teaching me how to waltz in her living room? And imagine if, even decades after she passed away she could teach her grandson, who she never met, how to waltz in her living room. That’s the thing with VR, we’re not just immortalizing memories, we’re immortalizing people too!”
Every Tuesday, we'll shine a spotlight on the female trailblazers making their mark in immersive tech and their work. If you have a story you think we should feature, just hit reply to this email or tweet me @alicebonasio.
