The recent school shooting in Parkland, FL once again raised the question of the connection between mental illness and mass violence. But, if you suffer from a mental illness in the United States, you may find yourself thrown into a confusing and often contradictory system of doctors, clinics, institutions, home care, and drug regimens that is hardly a system at all. 

The mentally ill are far more likely to be the victims of violent crime, rather than the ones who commit the actions themselves. However, this isn't what the media always portrays after a national tragedy, such as the recent shooting in Parkland, Fla.
